Vertical machining center machine is a comprehensive equipment integrating mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and numerical control. In the long-term operation process, various faults will inevitably occur, affecting the processing accuracy, efficiency and even causing shutdown. Accurate diagnosis and timely elimination of these common faults will help reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment utilization.
Spindle failure: noise, heat, abnormal beating
Fault manifestation: abnormal noise, temperature rise, or beating and grain on the workpiece processing surface during spindle operation.
Cause analysis:
* Spindle bearing wear or poor lubrication.
* Spindle motor failure or abnormal speed control.
* Tool installation eccentric or loose clamping.
* Dust and impurities accumulate inside the spindle.
Diagnostic methods and treatment measures:
* Use a vibration analyzer to detect the vibration condition of the spindle.
* Check whether the lubrication system is unobstructed, and replace grease or add lubricating oil if necessary.
* Check whether the tool clamping mechanism is worn or faulty.
* If the bearing is seriously damaged, replace the new bearing and recalibrate the spindle coaxiality.
The guide rail and lead screw do not run smoothly or make abnormal noises
Fault manifestation: The machine tool has jamming, vibration or abnormal noise during the movement of the X/Y/Z axis, and the positioning is inaccurate.
Cause analysis:
* The gap between the slider and the guide rail increases or the lubrication is insufficient.
* The fit between the lead screw and the nut is loose or the impurities are stuck.
* The guide rail guard is deformed or blocked by debris.
* Coolant or chips penetrate into the moving pair.
* Diagnostic method and treatment measures:
* Remove the guard to check whether there is metal chip accumulation or foreign matter stuck.
* Check the working status of the lubrication system and replenish or replace the lubricating oil in time.
* Clean the moving parts and check the fit clearance, repair or replace if necessary.
* Re-adjust the lead screw preload to ensure smooth operation.
System alarm and loss of control
Fault manifestation: The CNC system suddenly alarms and stops, the operation command cannot be executed, the servo system is out of control or an error code appears.
Cause analysis:
* Servo drive or power module failure.
* Encoder damage or poor contact of the signal line.
* Parameter settings are accidentally modified or the system is disturbed.
* Electrical interference caused by poor grounding.
Diagnostic methods and treatment measures:
* Check the corresponding meaning according to the alarm code to determine whether it is a hardware or software fault.
* Check the power supply voltage and cable connection status, and re-plug the connector.
* Verify the CNC system parameters to confirm whether they have been changed by mistake.
* Strengthen the grounding system, clean the dust inside the electric control cabinet, and contact the equipment manufacturer for in-depth inspection if necessary.
Tool change mechanism is stuck or tool change fails
Fault manifestation: tool change is not smooth, stuck or tool magazine action is abnormal.
Cause analysis:
* Insufficient clamping force of the tool arm or aging of the spring.
* Tool magazine positioning mechanism failure.
* Insufficient air pressure or leakage of the tool change cylinder.
* Tool installation size is out of tolerance or interference.
Diagnostic methods and treatment measures:
* Check whether the air source pressure and solenoid valve response of the tool change system are normal.
* Lubricate and maintain the tool arm and positioning pin.
* Re-check the tool size to avoid overweight or too long.
*If the tool magazine rotates abnormally, check the coordination between the drive device and the detection switch.
Reduced processing accuracy
Fault manifestation: increased deviation of workpiece size, unstable repeated positioning, abnormal surface roughness.
Cause analysis:
* Unreasonable process parameter settings.
* Thermal deformation of the machine tool or influence of ambient temperature.
* Increased clearance of the spindle or lead screw.
* The workpiece is not firmly clamped or the fixture is mispositioned.
Diagnostic methods and treatment measures:
* Use laser interferometer to detect the positioning accuracy and repeatability of the machine tool.
* Check the wear of the tool and replace or re-sharpen it in time.
* Adjust the cutting speed, feed rate and other process conditions through parameter optimization.
* Correct the fixture and tooling to improve the stability of workpiece clamping.
Abnormal cooling system
Fault manifestation: Coolant does not circulate, nozzle is blocked or liquid overflows.
Cause analysis:
* Damaged or blocked cooling pump.
* Broken or leaking cooling pipeline.
* The filter is not cleaned regularly, and debris accumulates.
Diagnostic methods and treatment measures:
* Check the running sound and outlet pressure of the cooling pump.
*Replace or clear clogged nozzles and pipes.
*Clean the filter regularly and use coolant of appropriate concentration.
